Everything about this album, from the understated design to the emotional depth of the music itself, is beyond gorgeous. In fact, the subtlety of the physical design allows the listener to focus their full attention on the moving lyrics, relayed through deeply impactful vocals and complimented by layered string and piano accompaniment. It's clear that a lot of thought and effort was put into making this album an entire cohesive experience and no doubt Chen's personal involvement in virtually every aspect of production helped to ensure success on that front. He certainly set out with a specific vision and intention with his solo debut; the places these songs take you, the moods they encourage you to sit with... this is an album you turn on when you need to give yourself room to feel emotion. It, like Chen himself, feels like a good friend who understands what you're going through and is willing to stay by your side as you do. Absolutely perfect content for early springtime and the rebirth it symbolizes, and really it was all I listened to for months after release. Everyone needs to hear these songs and feel the simple but no less powerful magic they contain, and if they could hold the physical album in their hands and engage with the full experience, they'd be even better for it. Thank goodness for this work of art and congratulations to all of us, we get to live in the same world as the ARTIST Kim Jongdae!
